Manchester City presented two newbies

The Premier League vice-champions Manchester City signed Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres from Bournemouth and Valencia respectively.

The previous Premier League season showed, which problems are present in Manchester City. The first one is defense. After Aymerick Laporte and John Stones’ injury, Pep Guardiola had to use the services of old-timer Nicolas Otamendi. He even lowered Fernandinho to a central defender place, which then also reflected on the Citizens’ attack.

Apart from the lack of a quality defender, City had a problem with rotation in the wings of attack. At the beginning of the season, the White-Sky Blues lost Leroy Sane, who dropped out for the whole championship draw. Now the German is a Bayern player and they urgently needed a new joker, capable of giving freshness in terms of a stalemate development of the match.

Manchester City successfully coped with both tasks, having spent only 62 million euros, which is mere pennies in modern reality. The Citizens signed Nathan Ake to the center of defense, with whom they got seriously lucky. Bournemouth were relegated from the Premier League; therefore, they are left without about 80 million euros for participation in the most prestigious league of the world. This money had to be returned and Ake partially helped them with that, who was the main defender of the team and in the last seasons he was sent to top clubs.

Yes, Nathan still needs to work quite a lot to shift Stones from the perch or especially Laporte, who is also a lefty. Whereas in case of necessity, it is a quality replacement, which is significantly better than veteran Otamendi.

Torres from Valencia figured out just in time that it’s time to leave. The Bats are left without the European cup for the next season, the management does incomprehensible things and turns fans against themselves. No one talks about quality management and coaches change like gloves. Therefore, Ferran’s departure is maximally logical decision. Torres must replace Leroy Sane, but I do not exclude that he can become a replacement even for David Silva, also Valencia product.

Rumor also has it, that the Citizens are going to look for Sergio Aguero’s replacement. The Argentine is not getting any younger and in the last season he played only in 24 matches due to injuries. Gabriel Jesus doesn’t carry the Argentine’s burden, as he has big problems with realization. This is what City will consider looking for a quality goalscorer, who can Lautaro Martinez or Joao Felix.

Summing up the situation at City, I can only say obvious things. No one builds the transfer campaign like the Citizens do. Probably only Bayern can compete in quality and professional approach to the purchases of footballers. If Liverpool will not catch on in time, then it will be very difficult for them to keep up with Manchester City next season.
