Ranieri will replace Di Francesco?0
After a defeat to Porto away in the second match of the Champions League round of 16, Di Francesco said goodbye to Roma. The unsuccessful start of the season changed with elimination from the most prestigious club tournament in Europe, which the club management did not like.
In the last few months Roma improved the results, having gained 44 points. The team is occupying the fifth place and only three points separate them from the Champions League zone. However, the Romans limply dropped out of Coppa Italia, having lost away to Fiorentina 7:1 and the defeat to Porto became the last drop for the management.
The club president James Palotta gave an interview, in which he thanked Di Francesco for his work,
“I would like to thank Eusebio for his effort. Di Francesco always had a professional approach towards work, he put the club interests over his personal ones. We wish him all the best in his career.”
After this decision Roma has begun searching for a new manager urgently. The names of Cristian Panucci, Roberto Donadoni and Paulo Souza were called amongst the candidates. However, the most probable candidate for the manager post is Claudio Ranieri.
The 67-year old manager has been left without work because of unsatisfactory results in the EPL together with Fulham, having worked there less than three months. We have previously written about it, having pointed out that the Italian’s managerial path is still not finished. Ranieri trained Roma from 2009 to 2011 and, therefore, he is familiar with structure and the Wolves’ values. However, Monchi’s arrival to the club structure turned the views.
This is not the same team with Totti and only De Rossi represents faithfulness and security. Monchi will sell the rest to anyone and will buy perspective players as substitutes. Therefore, such Roma will hardly be a good fit for Ranieri, Roma, which has changed a lot in ten years after his first arrival.
