Sevilla and Schalke said goodbye to managers0
After the European cups’ play-off matches, the German Schalke and the Spanish Sevilla fired their managers. The Andalucians said goodbye to the battle in the Europa League after a defeat to Slavia and Schalke were destroyed by Manchester City in the Champions League.
In the beginning of the current season, Sevilla took advantage of the points loss from Real and Barcelona and got into the first place for a little while. However, the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan inhabitants slid back in the tournament table on a distance and already occupying the sixth place.
The elimination from the Spanish cup also influenced that, where Sevilla said goodbye to the tournament at the quarter-final stage, having received a full basket of goals from Barcelona. The shootout with SLavia in the Europa League also did not end with anything good. In Spain it was 2:2 and away 4:3 in injury time sacked Machin.
Sevilla chose Joaquin Caparros to replace the manager, who has already worked in the club structure. He was acting manager from 2000 until 2005 and also was appointed for the post in the beginning of 2018.
Schalke in the round of 16 of the Champions League on aggregate of two matches lost miserably to Manchester City 10:2. However, this was not the reason for the head coach Domenico Tedesco’s dismissal.
The follower of the progressive style has descended the team almost into the relegation zone and now the coalminers are occupying the fourteenth place in Bundesliga, having gained only one point in the last five matches.
Schalke are terrible this season, but whereas the royal-blues have advanced to the German Cup quarter-finals, where they will try their strength with Werder. Schalke fire the head coach for two years in a row now. Last year, Weinzierl was the one, who had many misunderstandings with players. Back the Schalke managed to get into the Champions League zone; however, right now the team is balancing on the edge of relegation. Huub Stevens is called upon to save the Royal Blues. He has already managed the team fro Gelsenkirchen from 1996 to 2002 and from 2011 and 2012.
Despite the differences, Sclke and Sevilla are similar to each other. Both teams have a decent squad, capable of fighting for a place in the Champions League. However, the managers’ approach destroyed the microclimate. Sevilla still have the chances for the fourth place, while Schalke under the most optimistic alignment only the Europa league awaits, considering Ajax, Borussia M and Bayer’s pace.
