Liverpool leader envied Coutinho0
One of the leaders of Liverpool admitted what he felt when Barcelona was hunting for the Reds’ Brazilian halfback, Philippe Coutinho.
Sadio Mane admitted that he was jealous when Barcelona lured his teammate Felipe Coutinho to Camp Nou. The Brazilian left in January 2018, making a deal worth 142 million pounds sterling, even though he could go to Barcelona in the summer of 2017, but the club delivered an ultimatum to the football player and the Catalan giant.
Liverpool coped well with the interruptions caused by the absence of the main playmaker, but Mane admitted that Coutinho’s departure weakened Liverpool.
“He is a great player, and I am a little jealous that Barcelona got him. I would like to see him again, we are happy for him. He really loved to play with his teammates and gave himself completely. He is still young and can improve a lot in himself.
I know him, he is a hard worker. Hopefully he will still be in bed tomorrow when we play!”
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp responded in a similar way. The German was Coutinho's coach, so he knows both the strengths and weaknesses of the midfielder,
“Yes, we really miss Phil Coutinho because he is a world-class player and I enjoyed working with him. But we had to do without him, and we did well. When I first heard that he wants to go to Barcelona, I could not imagine that we would do it well, but we did.”
The loss of Coutinho affected the formations of Liverpool and the actions of the team in the attack. In the second part of the 2017/18 season, the Reds lost quite a few points in matches with middle peasants and outsiders when there was a need for a creative midfielder that could endanger the opponent alone.
However, the transfers of Salah and Keita leveled this problem and Liverpool reached the final of the Champions League, and now reached the semifinals and fight for the title of champions of England, when Coutinho has problems with playing practice. There are rumors that the Brazilian may return to Anfield, but it is more profitable for Liverpool if he returns there in an opponent’s jersey, and not with Liverbird on his chest.
